About the role

This position involves evaluating aviators' performance, conducting instrument training, and providing evaluations and feedback. Duties also include reviewing and developing training materials, performing proficiency flights, and ensuring the serviceability of the simulator.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate each aviator's performance according to published standards.
  • Conduct instrument training and flight evaluations.
  • Provide objective and constructive comments using approved methods of instruction.
  • Evaluate planning operations and cross-country flights.
  • Review and revise training and instructional material.
  • Conduct periodic proficiency flights in the simulator.
  • Verify that individuals meet all prerequisites and ensure required equipment is available.
  • Conduct oral examinations to assess knowledge and understanding of applicable topics.
  • Supervise and administer training programs.
  • Plan and evaluate the performance of rated pilots, instructors, or instrument examiners.
  • Perform both ground and in-flight instruction/evaluations.
  • Communicate with contract logistic support personnel to ensure the simulator's availability.

Requirements

  • Must possess a certification from the Instrument Flight Examiner Course (IFE).
  • May be required to work extended hours.

Qualifications

  • One year of specialized experience which includes teaching or instructing in an adult education program, secondary school, college, military installation, or industrial establishment in the appropriate field(s); supervising or administering a training program; development or review of training/course materials, aids, devices, tools and evaluation of training results.
  • Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: aeronautical technology or aeronautical science or degree in other related fields.
  • A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%.
