TRAINING INSTRUCTOR (ADVANCED EQUIPMENT OPERATOR).

Responsibilities

• Instruct inexperienced students in high-risk environments while ensuring safe and effective training.
• Research, prepare, distribute, and maintain academic and operational data.
• Establish and implement standards, guidelines, and regulations in accordance with proper policies and procedures.
• Administer practical and written examinations, remediations, and retests.
• Draft curriculum developments or modifications requests.
• Serve as the Weight Handling Equipment Program Manager.
• Utilize various software and databases to create spreadsheets, trackers, schedules, lesson plans, and correspondence.
• Maintain the test bank at the schoolhouse, ensuring tests are current.
• Manage the Command’s Weight Handling Equipment (WHE) and licensing programs, including all crane attachments and rigging gear assigned.

Requirements

• Must be a US Citizen.
• Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
• Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.
• New employees to the Department of the Navy will be required to successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check.
• Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
• Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
• Required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty.
• Required to obtain and maintain a current CPR certification.
• Required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators, and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
• Required to obtain and maintain current government operator licenses for several types of advanced equipment, including but not limited to cranes, truck tractor trailers, asphalt pavers, rollers, excavators, graders, and dozers.
• Required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:

• Teaching technical courses, lecturing, and giving instructions on operating advanced equipment such as government cranes, crane attachments, truck tractor trailers, bulldozers, excavators, scrapers, asphalt distributors, rollers, and more.
• Monitoring and evaluating student comprehension and course effectiveness.
• Conducting inventory of all testing materials to include test administrators guides, student booklets, and instructor answer keys.
• Conducting safety inspections regularly or as needed when curriculum changes.
• Maintaining all student academic exam records.
• Utilizing multiple databases to track training budget, training certifications, and to maintain training functions.

In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:

• Master's or equivalent graduate degree, or
• 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree, or LL.B. or J.D., if related.
