TRAINING INSTRUCTOR.
Duties
You will instruct staff and students on all facets of Navigation, Seamanship, and Ship handling (NSS), Bridge Resource Management (BRM), RADAR Fundamentals, Automated RADAR Plotting Aid (ARPA), and Leadership.
You will operate Ship handling simulators and other computer-based training systems as training tools, simultaneous with the provisions of instruction and competency assessment.
You will provide instructor led classroom training regarding bridge watch stander duties based on provided curriculum, and in accordance with the NSS Training Requirements Document (TRD) and applicable Train-to-Qualify (T2Q) program.
You will review policy decision and safety investigations/mishap reports affecting NSS for applicability, incorporate pertinent information into current course content, and brief instructors on revised content.
You will define and establish instructional and student performance requirements and standards in alignment with Fleet Skill Objects, Human Capital Objects, and Navy Mission Essential Task Lists (NMETLS).
Requirements
- Must be a US Citizen.
- Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
- Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.
- New employees to the Department of the Navy will be required to successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check.
- Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final Secret security clearance prior to entrance on duty.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
Qualifications
- Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.
- Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
- Instructing students/personnel in ship navigation, seamanship and ship handling principles and procedures;
- Utilizing bridge simulators or similar ship handling simulators as instruction techniques and competency assessment methods to advance seamanship skills;
- Developing curriculum/training material and recommending improvements to navigation, seamanship and ship handling training classes,
- Evaluating performance of students/personnel to determine effectiveness of instruction and training material.
