About The Role

We are seeking an experienced Training & Skill Development Manager to establish and lead our employee training and skill development initiatives. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience working with manufacturing labor, setting up government-approved skill development centers, and implementing digital Learning Management Systems (LMS). This role will be responsible for building a structured training ecosystem that improves workforce productivity, quality, safety, and career development.

Responsibilities

  • Government Skill Development Initiatives
    • Establish and manage a Gujarat Government-approved Skill Development Center.
    • Liaise with government departments such as Kaushalya – The Skill University, Gujarat Skill Development Mission (GSDM), NSDC, and other relevant authorities.
    • Obtain required approvals, accreditations, and certifications.
    • Manage government documentation, audits, reporting, and compliance requirements.
    • Identify and apply for applicable government grants, subsidies, and skill development programs.
  • Factory Workforce Training
    • Develop structured induction programs for new employees.
    • Train blue-collar workforce across manufacturing, production, quality, maintenance, stores, and safety functions.
    • Create skill matrices for different job roles and monitor competency levels.
    • Design refresher training programs to improve productivity and reduce quality defects.
    • Conduct classroom, on-the-job, and practical hands-on training.
    • Evaluate employee competency through written and practical assessments.
  • Learning Management System (LMS)
    • Select, implement, and administer a Learning Management System.
    • Digitize training materials including SOPs, work instructions, videos, quizzes, and assessments.
    • Track employee training completion, certifications, competency levels, and retraining schedules.
    • Generate training reports and dashboards for management.
    • Coordinate with IT and department heads to continuously improve digital learning content.
  • Training Content Development
    • Prepare training manuals, SOPs, presentations, videos, and work instructions.
    • Develop multilingual training content (English, Hindi, and Gujarati preferred).
    • Create visual work instructions suitable for shop-floor operators.
    • Standardize training documentation across departments.
  • Compliance & Quality
    • Ensure training programs comply with ISO 9001, IATF 16949 (if applicable), IPC/WHMA-A-620 (if applicable), OSHA/EHS, and customer-specific requirements.
    • Support customer audits and certification audits related to employee competency.
    • Maintain complete training records and documentation.
  • Continuous Improvement
    • Analyze skill gaps across departments.
    • Develop annual training calendars.
    • Measure training effectiveness using KPIs such as productivity, quality improvements, rejection reduction, and employee competency.
    • Recommend continuous improvement initiatives to enhance workforce capability.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Human Resources, Industrial Training, Education, or related field.
  • 5–10+ years of experience in manufacturing training and skill development.
  • Proven experience setting up or managing Gujarat Government or NSDC/GSDM skill development centers.
  • Experience training factory operators and blue-collar workforce.
  • Experience implementing or administering a Learning Management System (LMS).
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and shop-floor operations.
  • Excellent presentation, communication, and documentation skills.
  • Ability to work with cross-functional teams across Production, Quality, HR, Engineering, and Management.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in electrical, cable, wiring harness, electronics, or automotive manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of competency mapping and Training Needs Analysis (TNA).
  • Experience with SCORM-compliant LMS platforms such as Moodle, TalentLMS, Docebo, SAP SuccessFactors Learning, or similar systems.
  • Experience developing e-learning modules and instructional videos.
  • Knowledge of government-funded apprenticeship and skill development schemes.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  • Successful establishment of the Gujarat Government Skill Development Center.
  • Percentage of workforce trained and certified.
  • Training completion rate.
  • Competency improvement scores.
  • Reduction in quality defects and rework attributable to training.
  • LMS adoption and completion rates.
  • Government compliance and successful audit outcomes.
  • Employee skill matrix completion and ongoing maintenance.
