Training and Qualifications Manager

About the role

The Training & Qualifications Manager leads the efforts to support all pillars in the Shearer’s Operational Process (SHOP) journey and works as a team to set the training strategy for the Zero loss journey. The role involves driving implementation of three base systems: skills, training & certification and administration at plants, and providing support across the network. The manager also analyzes and manages reporting data, establishes training and qualifications strategies, qualifies trainers, implements training materials, supports enterprise training programs, and drives results.

Responsibilities

• Builds and develops capabilities and qualifications for team members based on step-up cards.
• Develops and implements pillar strategies including Master, 90 Day, and Weekly Plans.
• Manages reporting data and assesses performance against Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
• Ensures effective and efficient training systems through the establishment of a training and quality strategy.
• Creates training materials using the T&Q Training Development Process that are site-specific and relevant to losses due to lack of skill and knowledge.
• Qualifies trainers for each pillar who will be responsible for knowledge transfer within the plant or on the model line.
• Supports and drives the implementation of enterprise training programs aligned with organizational priorities.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree from a four-year college or university preferred.
• Practical, cross-functional experience in manufacturing environments.
• Understanding of Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) methodology.
• Knowledge of adult learning theories.
• Experience designing and facilitating training for both small and large groups.
• Ability to learn quickly, adapt to change, and drive results.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, especially in a cross-functional environment.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and related applications.

• Ability to develop a comprehensive understanding of manufacturing capabilities and capacities.
• Excellent written and reasoning skills.
