Job Summary
The Training & Development Specialist is responsible for enhancing individual and organizational performance across the Mill through the design, development, implementation, and evaluation of effective learning and training solutions. This role requires a continuous-improvement mindset and a strong understanding of instructional design principles, adult learning methodologies, and project management practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and maintain training curricula, learning materials, job aids, and other educational resources
- Manage learning management system (LMS) content, assignments, reporting, and training records
- Stay current on emerging trends, technologies, and best practices in learning and development
- Support employee onboarding, orientation, annual training requirements, and recurring compliance initiatives
- Conduct training needs assessments and partner with departments to identify skill gaps and performance improvement opportunities
- Gather, analyze, and interpret data to determine learning needs and recommend appropriate development solutions
- Collaborate with mill leaders, SMEs, and trainers to develop and deliver effective learning programs
- Measure and evaluate training effectiveness through feedback, assessments, and performance metrics
- Promote a culture of continuous learning, knowledge sharing, and employee engagement
- Support special projects and other Human Resources initiatives as assigned
Qualifications/Professional Experiences
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Organizational Development, Instructional Design or related field; equivalent experience may be considered
- Minimum of three years of experience in training, education, learning and development, or a related field
- Experience developing and delivering training programs for adult learners
- Experience with e-learning platforms, authoring tools, and Learning Management Systems (LMSs)
- Proficiency in curriculum / instructional design and training material development
- Strong understanding of adult learning principles and effective facilitation techniques
- Ability to assess training needs and develop practical, business-focused learning solutions
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to work effectively independently and collaboratively across functions and organizational levels
- Strong planning, project management, and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
