Trailer Technician (Professional Trailer Whisperer / Occasional Firefighter)

About the role

Fargo Trailer Center, a subsidiary of Wallwork Inc., seeks a Trailer Technician who thrives on fixing complex mechanical issues. The ideal candidate enjoys tackling challenging tasks and solving problems that others find insurmountable.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair trailer issues ranging from minor malfunctions to major mechanical failures.
• Work independently or in teams to address trailer problems, including air brakes, electrical systems, suspension components, and more.
• Communicate with the parts department to source necessary components, even when they’re no longer available.
• Document repairs thoroughly to ensure future technicians understand the steps taken.
• Handle daily tasks such as welding, fabrication, and inspecting trailers for safety.

Requirements

• A high school diploma or GED (or equivalent mechanical knowledge).
• A valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• A strong mechanical aptitude and respect for physics.
• The ability to pass a background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle report.
• Your own set of tools and toolbox.

Skills

• Mechanical trade school experience or 2+ years of trailer technician experience.
• Welding and fabrication skills.
• Familiarity with air brakes, trailer inspections, electrical systems, suspension components, wheel ends & hubs, hydraulic systems, and bodywork.
• Experience identifying and addressing previous owners' attempts at "fixes."

Bonus Skills

Pay

$20–$34/hr DOE + $2,000 sign-on bonus.

Schedule

Monday–Friday, 8AM–5PM.
