Job Summary
As a trailer technician, you are responsible for performing basic maintenance, service, and repair to J.B. Hunt trailers, containers, chassis, and other equipment. Under close supervision, you will conduct fleet maintenance to ensure that our equipment meets J.B. Hunt standards at all times.
Job Description
- Demonstrate basic knowledge of preventative maintenance and standard repairs related to trailer equipment, including air brake systems and FHWA inspections
- Accurately perform basic repairs up to company and manufacturer’s specifications, complete work orders, and demonstrate understanding of company requirements for standard repair times (SRT) and warranty guidelines
- Understand and effectively follow all shop safety procedures
- Maintain professional communication with J.B. Hunt personnel and customers
Qualifications
- Must be 18 years of age with 1 year of experience in semi-trailer maintenance and repair, or equivalent combination of education and experience, or military equivalent
- Minimum Qualifications: Demonstration of the following skills and abilities through education, certifications, military, or other experiences
- Able to supply your own basic tools, or purchase through our toolbox purchase program
- Willingness to work outdoors in the elements
- Able to work across multiple shifts, including nights and/or weekends if needed
Preferred Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent with 1 year of experience in semi-trailer maintenance and repair, or equivalent combination of education and experience, or military equivalent
- At least 1 year of experience in DOT inspections, FHWA inspections, and air brakes
- Basic welding skills (MIG and stick)
- Able to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas through various mediums
- Able to manage multiple priorities
- Able to work both independently and as part of a team
- Proficient computer skills and/or comfortable working with a computer, including Microsoft Office suite (PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
- Able to use time and resources efficiently and effectively
- Able to fulfill physical requirements (lift/move appliance up to 50 pounds)
- Able to wear appropriate work attire (protective gear/PPE)
Pay Range
The expected starting pay range for this position is between $23.55 - $35.30. The actual starting pay may vary based on skills, education, experience, and other factors.
