Trailer Mechanic

About the role

R+L Carriers is seeking Trailer Mechanics at our Portland, OR Service Center. Key responsibilities include diagnosing issues, performing repairs, and maintaining trailers.

Responsibilities

• Perform safety inspections and prepare safety documents as required by FMCSA, company policies, and regulations.
• Interpret technical manuals to understand and repair equipment.
• Replace defective parts, components, or systems as needed.
• Test equipment for proper performance and ensure compliance with manufacturer's specifications and regulations.
• Conduct preventive maintenance (PM) checks on trailers.
• Lift up to 50 lbs and own necessary tools.
• Work in various climate conditions as needed.

Requirements

• Experience with Cetaris Maintenance Work Order System.
• Welding experience preferred.
• Previous experience with Class 8 commercial vehicles.
• Sheet metal and composite panel repair skills.
• Dependable and willing to work in various shifts.

Qualifications

• Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
• Must own personal tools.
• Must be dependable.
• Must be prepared to work in varying weather conditions.

Skills

• Experienced in trailer PMs and repairs.
• Ability to interpret technical manuals.
• Knowledge of Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) regulations.
• Proficient in welding and sheet metal repair.

Pay

Earn up to $37.75 per hour.

Schedule

Full-time, Monday - Friday, Various Shifts.
