The Street Transportation Department is seeking a highly skilled and detail oriented Traffic Technology Supervisor to support the City's Traffic Operations Section. This position plays a critical role in ensuring the reliability, performance, and security of the City's Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) network, which includes traffic signal controllers, CCTV systems, wireless mesh radios, cell routers, fiber optic circuits, field network switches, and workstation technologies used throughout the Traffic Management Center (TMC) and Traffic Signal Shop. This position provides hands on installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and maintenance of operating systems, technical systems software, ATMS applications, CCTV platforms, wireless radios, field network switches, fiber optic communications, and staff devices used in traffic operations. The role is responsible for managing software licensing, reviewing and developing technology related contracts, supporting procurement processes, coordinating product evaluations, and assisting with budget tracking for the traffic signal network group. The Traffic Technology Supervisor must have a strong understanding of networking and network design, including IP addressing, routing paths, hybrid communications, wireless mesh networks, and fiber optic connectivity. This includes troubleshooting network failures, supporting new project communications designs, maintaining device configurations, and ensuring the ITS network adheres to City IT standards and security protocols. This role supervises a team consisting of Electronic Systems Specialists (ESS) and Signal Systems Specialist II (SSSII) and provides direction on field troubleshooting, device replacement, fiber testing, communication restoration, and integration of new ITS devices. Responsibilities include assigning work, overseeing project progression, coordinating training, managing schedules, supporting maintenance calls, and ensuring proper documentation of device installations and configurations. This position reports directly to the Traffic Engineering Supervisor over the Traffic Operations Section, supporting critical citywide mobility, safety, and technology initiatives. Analyze systems and procedures accurately and logically and implement improvements. SALARY Pay Range: $86,153.60 - $121,243.20 annually. Hiring Range: $86,153.60 - $115,460.80 annually. Preferred Qualifications The minimum qualifications listed above, plus: Three years of supervisory experience.Professional certifications such as Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP), Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), or equivalent networking credentials. Experience With/in Technical project management.Managing large-scale municipal or transportation networks, including LAN, WAN, and fiber optic systems supporting Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS).Network security protocols and cybersecurity best practices for critical infrastructure systems.Network design and troubleshooting tools, including monitoring software and diagnostic utilities.Integration of traffic signal controllers and various ITS devices into network environments.Leading complex technical projects, including planning, budgeting, and coordinating with multiple stakeholders.Technical writing and documentation, including preparation of network diagrams, policies, and operational procedures.
