Responsibilities

  • Develop creative, effective traffic solutions for diverse roadway and multi-modal projects.
  • Engage in client management and relationship-building.
  • Represent the firm through presentations at industry events and conferences.
  • Develop new areas of expertise and diversify your own talent base.
  • Support a diverse portfolio of DOT and municipal projects as part of a growing traffic engineering team embedded in our southeast transportation group.

Requirements

  • BS degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in traffic engineering.
  • Project or Task Management experience is preferred but not required.
  • Knowledge of state and municipal policies, standards, specifications, and guidelines desired.
  • Experience preparing traffic engineering design plans for a state DOT or municipality.
  • Experience in one or more of the following traffic engineering subdisciplines:
    • Preparing traffic management plans and temporary traffic control plans
    • Traffic signal design, closed-loop signal system design, and ITS design
    • Preparing signing and pavement marking plans
    • Traffic analyses using software such as Synchro/SimTraffic, HCS, VISSIM, SIDRA
    • ITS and Lighting design for major roadway projects
  • Excellent communication, presentation, writing, and organizational skills.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
  • Experience using MicroStation, ORD, or Civil3D is preferred.

Preferred: Professional Engineer license, with ability to obtain NC PE within 3 months.
