Maintain Electrical Systems

Maintain electrical systems and microprocessor-based controllers including relays, wiring, conflict monitors, signal suspension cables, poles, communication modules, underground conduits, related lighting, and vehicle detectors.

Calibration and Troubleshooting

Calibrate and troubleshoot circuit boards, run diagnostic tests, analyze data of traffic flow, and design timing of signal control devices.

Inventory Management

  • Review inventory to ensure you have the tools and replacement parts needed.

Work Environment

  • Works independently and with crews.
  • Reports to administrative management.
  • Communicates with customers and the public to maintain a high level of professionalism.
  • Reports to General Foreperson any issues or concerns.

Qualifications

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Must be able to read traffic blueprints and interpret plan set layouts.
  • Able to direct and oversee Traffic Signal Laborers.
  • Able to operate heavy equipment to install signal items and install power service.
  • Must be able to read, write, and comprehend written and verbal instructions/information.

Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred.

License & Certifications

  • Valid Driver's License required.

Travel Requirements

  • Must be willing to travel and work away from home.

Physical Requirements

  • RARE (less than 10%): Sitting, Kneeling, Crawling, Color Vision, Climbing Stairs
  • OCCASIONAL (up to 33%): Stooping, Squatting, Climbing On/Off Truck, Climbing Ladders, Pushing, Reading, Lifting to 50 lbs.
  • FREQUENT (up to 66%): Carrying, Pulling, Balancing, Body-Twisting, Hearing/Speech Range, Lifting, lifting to 10 lbs., Manual Dexterity, Speaking Clearly, Walking
  • CONTINUOUS (up to 100%): Standing, Sense of Touch, Gripping, Seeing, Reaching, range-of-motion, Depth Perception, lifting over 10 lbs. to 50 lbs., Climbing
