Traffic Operations Specialist
About the role
The Traffic Operations Specialist position involves identifying operational concerns affecting traffic flow and implementing strategies to improve traffic efficiency. Key responsibilities include analyzing and adjusting signal operations to enhance throughput and safety, coordinating with public agencies and consultants, and conducting field work.
Responsibilities
- Ensure arterial corridors are operated efficiently by establishing baseline conditions, identifying deficiencies, and implementing corrective actions.
- Develop and refine signal timing plans and special event timing plans using available platforms and maintaining agency protocols.
- Manage daily operations of assigned arterial roadways, utilizing various platforms for optimal arterial operations.
- Conduct extensive travel to conduct field work, ensuring regular monitoring and corrective action.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field (equivalent experience considered)
- IMSA Traffic Signal Field Technician Level I certification (obtainable within 6 months)
- Ability to operate Synchro and Tru-Traffic software programs
- Knowledge of Traffic Management Center (TMC) operations
- Self-motivation and passion for traffic engineering and operations

Pay
Iteris anticipates paying between $57,600 and $64,200 for this role, with actual pay varying based on qualifications and experience.
Schedule
The position is based in Tampa and requires extensive travel within Florida and occasionally outside of Florida.
