Responsibilities
- Mentor and develop engineering staff to support continued growth of the group.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external clients across multiple disciplines.
- Develop project deliverables including reports, plans, specifications, estimates, and utility coordination documentation.
- May include working as an extension of agency staff in agency offices as part of on-call contracts.
- Development of conceptual, preliminary, and final transportation designs, including:
- Traffic signal design
- Signed and pavement markings design
- Construction staging and work zone traffic control
- Vehicle, pedestrian, and bicycle detour signing
- Transit station amenities design
- Fiber and network design
- Intersection control evaluations
- Signal and roundabout feasibility studies
- Transportation Management Plans
- Intelligent Transportation Systems Requirements
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in civil engineering, traffic/transportation engineering, or a related field.
- 4+ years of related experience in traffic engineering, traffic studies, ITS, and/or transportation technology.
- Illinois PE license or ability to obtain within 6 months.
- Valid driver’s license with an acceptable motor vehicle record to travel to work sites and meetings as needed.
- Ability to lead projects, manage technical tasks, and mentor staff.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and technical writing skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications; experience with CADD platforms such as Open Road Designer or AutoCAD.
- Experience with traffic engineering software, ITS/CAV systems, and/or transportation technologies.
- Experience developing plans, specifications, and estimates (PS&E) preferred.
Pay
Salary Range: $107,100 - $126,000
Compensation is determined by various factors, including education, experience, skills, job location, internal equity, market analysis, and specific qualifications relevant to the role.
