Traffic Engineer III, IV, or V
About the role
The Traffic Engineer will report to the Division Director in the Infrastructure Development Division. This position will review development plans and traffic impact analyses submitted at both rezoning and development permit review stages to ensure compliance with the County's Unified Development Ordinance and adopted standards.
Responsibilities
- Review plans for proposed development for transportation and mobility impacts
- Develop updates of Unified Development Ordinance (Title III) and guidelines
- Maintain records, prepare memoranda and reports
- Facilitate inter-divisional and inter-departmental coordination
- Serve as a technical lead in the Infrastructure Development Division, preparing training materials and providing regular training to other team members
- May provide managerial and supervisory support and staff evaluation to assigned staff
- Manage special projects and tasks
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in engineering
- Two years of progressively responsible engineering experience
- Valid Driver's License from State of Residency
Qualifications
- Engineer III: Bachelor's degree in engineering; AND Two years of progressively responsible engineering experience; AND Valid Driver's License from State of Residency.
- Engineer IV: Bachelor's degree in engineering; AND Four years of progressively responsible engineering experience; AND Valid Driver's License from State of Residency.
- Engineer V: Bachelor's degree in engineering; AND Six years of progressively responsible engineering experience, some of which should be in a supervisory capacity; AND Valid Driver's License from State of Residency.
Skills
In addition to the above minimum qualifications, preferred qualifications include:
- Professional Engineer (PE) license
- Master’s degree in civil engineering, transportation engineering, or related field
- Knowledge or experience in traffic forecasting and modeling, Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD), Highway Capacity Manual (HPM) and other relevant standards

Pay
Salary range for Engineer III: $85,311 - $126,900
Salary range for Engineer IV: $92,777 - $138,000
Salary range for Engineer V: $100,896 - $150,082
