About the role
The City of Huntsville’s Traffic Engineering department is seeking qualified applicants for the Traffic Engineer I position. This is a journey level professional and administrative role involving addressing traffic and transportation issues, planning, designing, and inspecting traffic control systems.
Responsibilities
- Develop systems and plans to facilitate efficient and safe traffic movement and control.
- Prevent accidents and ensure ample street lighting is provided.
- Work with local agencies and stakeholders to improve traffic flow and safety.
- Conduct inspections and evaluations of traffic engineering and transportation projects.
- Prepare reports and recommendations based on project findings.
- Collaborate with other departments to implement traffic engineering solutions.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil/Traffic Engineering from a regionally accredited institution.
- E.I.T Certificate in the State of Alabama or must obtain within 18 months of hire.
- Valid driver's license with a good driving record.
- Two (2) years of progressive civil engineering or traffic engineering experience.
