Overview
AWP Safety is looking for motivated individuals to become a Traffic Control Technician. This role supports and upholds AWP’s commitment to protecting customers' people, businesses, and time.
Responsibilities
- Set up, maintain, and remove Advance Warning Signs, Channelizing Devices, and other traffic control devices according to guidelines.
- Maintain a Flagger Station by standing and controlling traffic using hand signals with a STOP/SLOW Paddle.
- Drive a company vehicle to transport equipment, trailers, and team members safely and promptly.
- Communicate effectively via radio with team members on the work site.
- Follow all company safety procedures and report any potential safety issues or incidents.
- Achieve required training within the timeframe set by the Project Manager or Facility Manager.
- Train, coach, and mentor Protectors on the job.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Traffic Control Technician (TCT) Certification or 2000+ hours of experience required.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Prior experience in temporary traffic control services, utility industry, or construction industry preferred.
- Excellent verbal and nonverbal communication skills.
- Intermediate computer skills including Microsoft Office products and customer relationship management systems.
- Must be able to follow safe workplace practices.
- Valid Driver’s License required.
Work Environment and Physical Demands
- Hours of operation may vary.
- Frequent exposure to fumes, airborne particles, and extreme conditions at job sites including high noise levels.
- Exposure to inclement weather, such as heat, cold, humidity, and exposure to dust and asphalt.
- Lifts or carries objects up to 50 pounds.
- Stands for long periods and performs strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions.
- Requires good manual dexterity and multi-limb coordination.
