Overview

AWP Safety is looking for motivated individuals to become a Traffic Control Technician. This role is suitable for those who enjoy working in varied environments and are interested in a career without requiring a college degree.

Job Description

  • Set up, maintain, and remove traffic control devices according to guidelines.
  • Maintain a Flagger Station by controlling traffic with hand signals.
  • Drive company vehicles to transport equipment and personnel safely.
  • Communicate effectively via radio with team members.
  • Follow all company safety procedures.
  • Notify supervisor of safety issues or incidents.
  • Achieve required training within a specified timeframe.
  • Train, coach, and mentor junior staff.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Traffic Control Technician (TCT) Certification or 2000+ hours of related experience.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Prior experience in temporary traffic control services, utility industry, or construction industry preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and nonverbal communication skills.
  • Intermediate computer skills, including Microsoft Office products and CRM systems.
  • Valid Driver’s License with no suspension or revocation.

Work Environment and Physical Demands

  • Varying hours of operation due to staffing needs.
  • Frequent exposure to extreme conditions, including high noise levels, inclement weather, and hazardous materials.
  • Lifts and carries up to 50 pounds.
  • Stands for long periods and performs strenuous physical labor.
  • Requires good manual dexterity and multi-limb coordination.
