Trading Analyst Intern
About the role
Group One Trading, LP, a dynamic options trading firm, is actively seeking motivated college students to support our operations on the Chicago Board Options Exchange. The ideal candidate should be comfortable working in a high-pressure trading environment, possess excellent communication, analytical, computer, problem-solving, and time management skills, and be open to learning about options trading.
Responsibilities
- Keen awareness of critical situations
- Ability to shift from fast market to slow market conditions quickly and efficiently
- Anticipate the needs of traders throughout the day
- Quick comprehension and delivery of tasks
- Balance/resolve position discrepancies before opening bell
- Notify trading staff of unexpected position changes intra-day
- Filter information to trading staff by necessity
- Report pertinent information to management in a timely fashion
- Articulate needs of the trading staff to IT, vendors, clearing firm, brokers/other market makers, and the exchange if necessary
- Become fluent with all methods of communication provided by Group One, including IM, telephone, and email
- Develop excellent computer skills, including some programming skills
- Fluent with market research, theoretical/analytical data, order entry applications, and stock/option execution
- Retain and apply past experience to current situations
- Show excellent math, probability, and game theory skills
Requirements
Candidates must be active college students during the Fall 2027 semester and have a background in mathematics, economics, physics, engineering, or computer science.
Qualifications
The internship offers a guaranteed salary during the training period and the potential to be accepted into the full-time Trading Analyst class, where interns will learn the intricacies of options trading and the skills needed for a successful career in market making.
Skills
Excellent communication, analytical, computer, problem-solving, and time management skills are essential. Knowledge of the options industry is an asset, but not required.
Benefits
Successful interns will have the opportunity to be accepted into the full-time Trading Analyst class, which includes training on stock options trading and the skills needed for a successful career on the trading floor. They will also receive a guaranteed salary during their time in the program, with the expectation that graduates will go on to become Junior Traders and then Group One Traders.

Schedule
The internship runs from June to August 2027.
