About the role
University Housing Facilities is seeking experienced Trades Supervisor and Maintenance Supervisor to lead and support a team of skilled trades or maintenance staff.
Responsibilities
- Coordinates response to life safety inspections and any repair or alterations needed.
- Serves as the unit liaison to internal stakeholder groups providing organizational information to align project objectives with overall strategic plans and initiatives.
- Maintains the work unit or project budget and approves expenditures.
- Exercises supervisory authority, including hiring, transferring, suspending, promoting, managing conduct and performance, discharging, assigning, rewarding, disciplining, and/or approving hours worked of at least 2.0 full-time equivalent (FTE) employees.
- Oversees the required inspection of life safety equipment, responds to life safety equipment needs and organizes fire drill evacuations.
- Identifies, proposes, and implements new or revised unit operational plans and quality assurance programs to ensure compliance with general construction and maintenance practices.
- Develops, directs, executes, and monitors operational work plans for a designated unit or affiliated projects to ensure compliance with plan regulations and timelines.
Requirements
- Five (5) years of combined maintenance and/or construction trades experience with at least three (3) years supervising technical/trades staff within commercial, industrial, healthcare, or similar settings.
- Valid Driver’s License that meets UW Risk Management Standards.
- Advanced knowledge of building systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry and building automation systems.
- Experience with asset life cycle planning, UW system procurement, and preventative maintenance setup.
- Advanced knowledge of a variety of building science concepts.
- Degree in industrial maintenance, construction management, or related field.
- EPA Refrigerant Handling Certification.
- Lead Safe Renovator certification and/or Asbestos Supervisor certification.
- Proficiency in computer software for tracking work schedules, inventory and purchasing.
- Proficiency with a CMMS.
- Experience working in a university setting.
- Experience working in a residential setting.

Pay
The starting annual salary is $92,000 or higher based on qualifications.
Schedule
The primary schedule for these positions is Monday - Friday, 8-hour shifts between the hours of 7:00am – 5:30pm. Schedule alterations as operations and position expectations demand.
