Trades Helper (Machine Shop) with Security Clearance

About the role

The Trades Helper at SA-TECH's St. Inigoes, MD complex will support the engineering, testing, prototyping, repair, and production facilities, specifically in the Machining Department. The primary responsibilities include setting up, adjusting, and operating machine shop tools and machining centers to perform precision machining and fabrication operations. Additionally, the helper will assist workers in the skilled maintenance trades by performing duties of lesser skill such as keeping a worker supplied with materials and tools, cleaning working areas, and assisting journeymen.

Responsibilities

• Under supervision, setup, adjust, and operate machine shop tools and machining centers as necessary to perform precision machining and/or fabrication operations.
• Assists one or more workers in the skilled maintenance trades by performing specific or general duties of lesser skill such as keeping a worker supplied with materials and tools; cleaning working areas, machines, and equipment; assisting journeymen by holding materials or tools; and performing other unskilled tasks as directed by journeymen.

Requirements

• High school education or equivalent.
• Formal trade school, college, or military training school highly desired.
• Knowledge of common hand and power tools.
• Minimum of one (1) year of experience within a fabrication or machine shop, with basic knowledge in the safe use of hand tools and shop equipment.
• Ability to work within a team environment.
• Solid organizational and communication skills.
• Current Maryland Driver’s License required; must be able to be insured through company’s vehicle insurance policy while driving work/government/rental vehicles during working hours, and for the duration of employment.
• U.S. Citizenship required and you must already have or be able to obtain a U.S. DoD Secret Security Clearance prior to start date and maintain a Secret clearance throughout employment.
