TRADES APPRENTICE-MAINTENANCE REPAIRER 1-2

About the role
This position serves as the Maintenance Repairer 2 in District 02 / Unit 775, Facility Maintenance. The incumbent is responsible for maintenance and repair of the Crescent City Connection (CCC) Administration Building, CCC Police / Maintenance Building, Pumping Station, and any other State Property assigned by the Foreman. The role also includes assisting with roadway duties such as pothole repairs, attenuator repairs, and cement bollard replacement. The position reports directly to the Maintenance Foreman.
Responsibilities
- Facility Maintenance:
- Performs repairs to buildings owned and operated by DOTD, including plumbing, HVAC, and carpentry work.
- Replaces broken windows, ceiling tiles, and floor tiles.
- Changes filters in A/C units and repairs hot water heaters, water fountains, and small equipment such as lawn mowers and weed eaters.
- Repairs ice machines, hangs doors, and performs repairs to walls, floors, and other wooden structures.
- Repairs water lines, door locks, and door hinges.
- Assists with mechanic repair and routine maintenance of the General Degaulle Pump Station.
- Ground Upkeep:
- Mows grass at assigned facilities and other State properties.
- Performs landscape maintenance, including trimming trees and bushes, removing weeds from flower beds, and grading/leveling grounds.
- Ensures safe entry paths to State properties.
- Repairs sprinkler systems.
- Bridge Roadway Maintenance:
- Assists with pothole repairs, debris removal from roadways, and repairs to damaged attenuators.
- Replaces damaged concrete bollards and repairs signs, benches, and trash containers.
- Cleans CCC ground-level areas of debris and trash.
Requirements
- No prior experience or training is required.
- Proficiency in plumbing and carpentry work.
- Ability to operate heavy equipment such as forklifts, mowers, and front-end loaders.
- A valid Louisiana Class “D” Chauffeur’s License is required.
Career Progression
Vacancies may be filled from this recruitment as a Trades Apprentice, Maintenance Repairer 1, or Maintenance Repairer 2, depending on the level of experience of the selected applicant(s).
Pay
- Trades Apprentice: $16.06 hourly
- Maintenance Repairer 1: $17.18 hourly
- Maintenance Repairer 2: $19.67 hourly (maximum salary: $6,136.00 monthly)
