Trademark - Mid-Level Associate

About the Role

Michael Best & Friedrich LLP is seeking a Mid-Level Trademark Associate to join our dynamic team in our Chicago, Madison, Milwaukee, or Raleigh office. This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney with at least 3 years of experience to contribute meaningfully to a busy practice and work on a diverse range of brand protection matters.

Responsibilities

• Conduct trademark clearance searches and analyze search results to provide advice regarding trademark availability.
• Handle domestic and international prosecution of trademark applications.
• Manage a large docket of trademark prosecution matters, ensuring timely responses to office actions and adherence to deadlines.
• Assist with trademark enforcement matters, including cease and desist letters, opposition/cancellation proceedings, social media takedowns, and domain name disputes.
• Support other attorneys on trademark and copyright litigation matters.
• Stay up-to-date on current trademark law and practice.
• Contribute to the growth and development of the firm’s Brand Protection team.

Office Locations

Requirements

• J.D. from an ABA accredited law school with excellent academic credentials.
• At least 3 years of U.S. and international trademark prosecution and enforcement experience at a law firm.
• Valid authorization to work in the U.S.

Pay

The annual compensation range for this role in our Illinois office is $200,000 - $245,000. The salary range reflects our good-faith expectation for this role at the time of posting. Final compensation will depend on experience, skills, and internal equity.

Schedule

This position is considered full-time.
