Mid-Level Trademark Associate
Responsibilities
- Manage domestic and international trademark portfolios
- Handle trademark prosecution matters before the USPTO and coordinate with foreign counsel worldwide
- Develop and implement trademark protection and enforcement strategies, including online brand protection initiatives
- Conduct trademark clearance searches and prepare risk assessments
- Support Trademark Trial and Appeal Board opposition, cancellation, and appeal proceedings
- Counsel clients on copyright protection, registration, licensing, and enforcement matters
- Address digital content issues, including fair use, online brand protection, domain name disputes, UDRP proceedings, and DMCA takedown matters
- Draft and negotiate trademark, copyright, and other intellectual-property agreements
- Conduct intellectual property due diligence in M&A, financing, and strategic transactions
- Collaborate directly with clients and contribute to business development initiatives
Qualifications
- JD from an accredited law school with strong academic credentials
- 3–6 years of trademark experience at an AmLaw 200 firm or leading IP boutique
- Experience handling the responsibilities outlined above
- Excellent analytical, research, writing, and communication skills
- Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple matters simultaneously and work independently while collaborating effectively with colleagues and clients
- Experience communicating directly with clients and managing projects and deadlines
- Active bar admission in the relevant jurisdiction or ability to obtain admission by waiver
Compensation
Hours Expectations & Compensation
The hours expectation for this position is 1,800 billable hours and an “all-in” hours expectation of 2,050 or 2,150, depending on seniority. The billable hours expectation includes up to 50 pro bono hours. All-in hours include the billable hours expectation as well as any additional billable hours, additional pro bono hours, and investment hours.
To be eligible for a bonus, associates must reach or exceed 1,850 billable hours (inclusive of up to 50 pro bono hours) and meet or exceed the all-in hours expectation.
The base compensation range for this position is $193,000 - $295,000, inclusive of salaries in all listed markets. Base compensation presented to an individual candidate may vary based on skills, overall experience, and market location.
