About the Opportunity
We're partnering with a growing manufacturer in Starkville, MS that is looking for a Trade Compliance Specialist to support export compliance, documentation, product classifications, restricted party screenings, and audit-ready recordkeeping. This is a strong fit for someone with 3+ years of export compliance, customs, or trade compliance experience who understands ITAR, EAR, OFAC, export documentation, and controlled technical data in a regulated environment.
What You'll Be Doing
- Support export compliance activities under ITAR, EAR, U.S. Customs, and OFAC requirements
- Classify products, components, and technical data under export control guidelines
- Prepare and review export documents, including commercial invoices, EEI/SED filings, bills of lading, and certificates of origin
- Coordinate export license applications and track license requirements
- Conduct restricted party screenings and maintain compliant records
- Work with Engineering, Supply Chain, Contracts, and Program Management to support compliant shipments
- Support internal and external audits
- Maintain export records in accordance with regulatory requirements
- Help identify trade compliance risks and support corrective actions
- Provide guidance to internal teams on trade compliance requirements
What They're Looking For
- 3+ years of experience in export compliance, customs administration, or trade compliance
- Experience in aerospace, defense, advanced manufacturing, or another regulated industry preferred
- Strong working knowledge of ITAR and EAR regulations
- Export Customs Specialist Certificate or Export Specialist Certificate preferred
- Experience with ERP systems and export compliance tools
- Strong attention to detail, documentation accuracy, and follow-through
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, regulated environment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
Nice to Have
- Experience with defense contracts or controlled technical data
- Familiarity with HTS classifications
- Experience supporting government audits or voluntary disclosures
- Bachelor's degree in International Business, Supply Chain, Business Administration, or related field
- Certified Export Specialist preferred
Pay
$70,000-$80,000 salary range
