Trade Compliance Manager - J0050837
Job Summary
Under the direct supervision of higher-level management, this position is part of the management team ensuring oversight of trade compliance, customs business, tariff cost recovery, and documented policies and procedures. This position exercises independent judgment and operates within established corporate guidelines.
Support management of broker partnerships and broker performance. Self-motivated to see areas for improvement within the compliance group and assist in projects. Excellent written/verbal communication skills to support day-to-day communication within the internal team, customers, brokers, and other stakeholders.
Primary Responsibilities
- Lead and support a team of trade compliance specialists in the following import and export related tasks:
- Tariff tracking management and tariff recovery
- Maintain and support post-entry activities (PSC, Protest, etc.) for Astemo sites, especially due to tariff regulation changes
- Support Astemo Americas sites to ensure the latest trade policies are followed, the best import method is followed, while maintaining high regulatory compliance
- Oversight for Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) classification and Schedule B, requiring excellent problem-solving skills, methodical thinking, and teamwork with other company departments
- Support sites by completing, editing, or reviewing classifications
- Support broker management and executing company standard procedures
- Monitor and apply duty savings protocol
- Assist with other projects, as needed
- Support sites by utilizing the Export Administration Regulations (EAR) for export control and assigning appropriate ECCNs for export compliance
- Support Trade Compliance staff with other government agency requirements EPA, NHTSA, FCC, FDA, FAA, etc.
- Support Trade Compliance staff with country-of-origin analysis (19CFR 134) and COO marking (19CFR 102) as required
- Be a resource for knowledge of trade agreements and other reporting programs (USMCA, KORUS, AALA, CAFE, Manufacturers Affidavit, etc.)
- Support periodic recordkeeping audits
- Ensure import/export document retention per company policy
- Utilize Incoterms and provide guidance to employees for proper use
- Continuous education - Internal and external training seminars for position
- Complete annual internal audits
- Support the annual updates of the Import and Export Manuals according to new regulations and/or company procedures
- General staff support
Qualifications
- Excellent analytical and communication skills
- Proficient in Automated Commercial Environment (ACE Customs portal)
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Project
- High level of customer interface experience
- Ability to work independently with minimal direction
- Well organized, detail oriented
Education
Possess 4-year college degree, Customs Broker License strongly preferred

5 years of industry experience
