Tractor Operator

About the role

Crown Beverage Packaging, a subsidiary of Crown Holdings, Inc., is located in La Crosse, WI. The plant is situated near the Mississippi River, offering scenic views and easy access to various amenities.

Responsibilities

• Secure shipping orders for cans and other materials.
• Check type and quality of cans and materials against shipping orders.
• Manipulate tractor controls and drive loaded tractors to transport materials, supplies, and finished products.
• Load and unload freight cars and trucks for shipment and storage.
• Prepare palletized loads for storage and shipment.
• Transport pallets, cans, packaging materials, etc., from lines, loading docks, or storage.
• Open freight cars and position dock loading plates.
• Check tickets on load against production to ensure correct delivery.
• Store coil stock in assigned storage areas.
• Load coil stock on production lines as needed.
• Aid in loading, unloading, or moving of machinery and other materials.
• Maintain necessary records, checklists, and forms.
• Keep equipment clean.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent preferred.
• 1-2 years of experience in inspecting/packaging and/or high-speed manufacturing preferred.
• Must possess a mechanical aptitude.
• Available to work 12-hour shifts, rotating 4 days on/4 days off schedule, which may include holidays, weekends, or nights.

Physical Requirements

• Regularly stands, walks, uses hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls, and reaches with hands and arms.
• Frequently climbs or balances.
• Stoops, kneels, crouches, or crawls.
• Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
• May be required to lift up to 50 pounds.

Working Conditions

• Works in a manufacturing environment.
• Exposed to moving mechanical parts and vehicular traffic.
• Exposed to a wide range of temperatures, especially in summer and winter months.
• Noise level is frequently loud.
