Tractor Mechanic

About the role

Prime, Inc. is one of America’s largest trucking operations, delivering products for a wide range of industries. The company is immediately hiring full‑time mechanics to keep the operation running so supplies can be delivered on time.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, diagnose, and repair Prime’s equipment.
• Use welding and cutting tools to repair, modify, or adjust parts.
• Perform DOT inspections.
• Lift and carry up to 100 lb and push/pull up to 50 lb while working with heavy equipment.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED, or mechanical experience.
• Ability to acquire basic hand tools and a toolbox by the end of the training period (tool program provides up to $1,500 in free tools with a 2‑year commitment).
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Experience as a tractor mechanic, diesel mechanic, HVAC, lube technician, or automotive technician is beneficial but not required.

Pay

• Average base pay $75,000, based on performance and bonuses.
• Top 20 % of earners make over $87,000.

Schedule

• Overnight shift: Wednesday – Saturday, 6 pm – 6 am (every other Wednesday off).
• Training provided during day shift.
• Shift structure results in 78 fewer workdays per year compared with a typical Monday‑Friday schedule.
