Track Supervisor- EN
About the role
The Track Supervisor is responsible for leading the operations of an assigned territory involving track inspection and repairs, as well as replacing rails, ties, switches, and ballasts. This role requires a minimum of 3 years of track experience, safety compliance experience, and budget management experience.
Responsibilities
- Lead engineering operations as outlined in CN’s operating plan
- Serve as the primary point of contact for track inspections and repairs
- Manage engineering operations to ensure compliance with safe work procedures, FRA guidelines, and CN policies and regulations
- Oversee the budget and workforce productivity within CN policies and the Five Guiding Principles
- Ensure clear communication of track condition and daily production information to senior management
- Participate in activities related to derailments and disruptions in service, while working with Transportation and Mechanical to establish cause and future prevention
- Conduct safety audits for the unionized workforce and conduct safety engagements
- Plan, schedule, and perform track repairs and maintenance
- Respond to emergencies
Requirements
- Track experience minimum of 3 years
- Experience in troubleshooting and problem-solving
- Relevant work experience in similar working conditions or in a regulatory or safety environment
- Budget management experience
- Labor relations experience (interpretation of collective agreements, response to grievances, negotiations with union representatives, discipline, etc.)
- Experience supervising a unionized workforce
- High School Diploma or GED
- Post-secondary diploma
- Valid driver’s license
- Military discharge certificate
- Meets all medical fitness for duty requirements
- Qualified Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) 213 Qualified
- Knowledge of Track infrastructure and clear understanding of Track Standards for all Class of Track
- Conducting investigations after an accident
- Qualified for USOR Qualification Training or certification in Railroad Operating Signals
Qualifications
- Ability to obtain USOR Qualification Training or certification in Railroad Operating Signals
- General Microsoft Computer skills
- Knowledge of Track inspection guidelines

Pay
This range represents the hiring range. Salaries are determined individually depending on skills and experience. The salary range is $108,000.00 - 118,000.00.
Schedule
The role requires regular travel (up to 50%) at times without advance notice. Due to the nature of the role, the incumbent must be able to meet tight deadlines, handle pressure, and stress. The position requires responding to unexpected and emergency situations, and being able to lift up to 70 lbs.
