About the role
Supports railroad construction, repair, and maintenance projects throughout the United States. No previous railroad experience required.
Responsibilities
- Removing and replacing railroad ties
- Repairing, installing, and aligning sections of track
- Using hand tools, power tools, and specialized railroad equipment
- Aiding with the operation of backhoes, loaders, tampers, and other machinery
- Installing and repairing railroad crossings
- Clearing brush, vegetation, and debris from work areas
- Loading, unloading, and organizing materials and equipment
- Inspecting tools and equipment before use
- Supporting crew members with general railroad construction and maintenance
- Following Company, Customer, And Federal Railroad Administration Safety Requirements
- Keeping job sites clean, organized, and free of avoidable hazards
- Completing projects safely and efficiently as part of a traveling crew
Requirements
- Experience in construction, warehouse, landscaping, farming, manufacturing, equipment operation, or another physically demanding field
- A valid state-issued driver's license
- The ability and willingness to travel nationwide
- Comfort working outdoors in heat, cold, rain, and other changing weather conditions
- The ability to lift, bend, climb, stand, walk, and work on uneven surfaces
- Mechanical aptitude and comfort using tools
- Reliable attendance and a strong work ethic
- The ability to follow written and verbal safety instructions
- A positive, team-oriented attitude
- A willingness to learn railroad maintenance procedures

- Hands-on training provided for dependable candidates
- Work performed outdoors at active railroad locations
- Extended periods away from home while assigned to projects in different states
- Physically demanding outdoor work near active railroad tracks and heavy equipment

Pay
$20.00 per hour
Schedule
Travel-intensive position with travel expected to be close to 100%. Employees will regularly stay away from home while assigned to projects in different states.
