Part-time hourly position located at Foothills Activity Center. Pay range: $15.00 - $18.00 per hour, based on relevant experience.
About the role
Under the supervision of the Recreation Coordinator of youth or adult sports, the youth sport track coach will supervise a variety of youth running practices during the week and meets on the weekends. They will help establish and maintain a safe, positive, and fun sports environment for all participants while following all City and Department guidelines, procedures, and policies. Weekend, holiday, and evening hours scheduled as needed.
Responsibilities
- Supervise various youth running activities for the Recreation Department.
- Set up and tear down program fields as scheduled.
- Ensure all facilities and playing surfaces are in safe and operable condition.
- Maintain discipline and respond professionally to comments or concerns from the public.
- Enforce and/or recommend changes to policies and procedures for assigned programs.
- Handle emergency or crisis situations; may be required to perform emergency care.
- Provide exceptional customer service in person, over the phone, or via email.
- Communicate with the recreation coordinator on events or situations requiring immediate attention.
- Maintain accurate accident and incident reports.
- Comply with City and Departmental rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Minimum age of 18 with previous sports experience.
- Comprehensive knowledge of youth and adult sport program operations.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and the public.
- Effective oral and written communication skills with external and internal customers.
- Sensitivity in dealing with all ages, persons with disabilities, and a diverse population.
- Ability to understand and apply department procedures and policies.
- Ability to handle sensitive and stressful situations with tact and diplomacy.
- Flexibility to work varying shifts, including holidays.
- Ability to read instructions and communicate with supervisors and the general public.
- Ability to present information and respond to questions from supervisors, clients, customers, and the public.
- Ability to solve practical problems and implement solutions.
- Ability to interpret instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Initiate proactive measures to ensure program quality, customer satisfaction, and facility integrity.
- Current driver’s license.
- CPR and First Aid Certifications required or ability to obtain within 60 days of hire.

- Bilingual capabilities in Spanish and English are desirable but not mandatory.
Pay
$15.00 - $18.00 per hour, based on relevant experience.
Schedule
Part-time, hourly position with weekend, holiday, and evening hours as needed.
