Long Island University (LIU) seeks a dedicated and enthusiastic Operations Coordinator to provide the Head Coach with administrative and operational support for the LIU Men’s and Women’s Track/Cross Country programs.
About the role
This part-time position (August–May, ~20 hours per week) is based on the Post campus with responsibilities supporting both the Post and Brooklyn campuses. The role includes assisting with team operations, travel, recruiting logistics, scheduling, and day-to-day administrative functions that contribute to a first-class student-athlete experience.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate team travel, including itineraries, lodging, transportation, and meal planning.
- Assist with facility and transportation reservations/rentals.
- Assist with home meet operations and event management.
- Support the Director of Recruiting with administrative recruiting responsibilities, including coordinating official and unofficial recruiting visits, preparing recruiting itineraries, and maintaining recruiting databases.
- Serve as a liaison between coaching staff and departments such as Compliance, Athletic Training, Facilities, Academic Services, Equipment, Marketing, and the Business Office.
- Communicate schedules, travel information, and operational updates to student-athletes and staff.
- Assist with team functions, alumni engagement events, and community outreach initiatives.
- Support fundraising and donor engagement activities as assigned.
- Uphold NCAA, conference, and university regulations at all times and promote a program committed to integrity and ethical standards.
- Represent LIU and the Cross Country and Track & Field program within the campus and local communities, assisting in outreach initiatives and fostering connections with alumni and supporters.
- Assist with aspects of the program budget, including budget reconciliation and monitoring.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Director of Cross Country and Track & Field.
Requirements
- High School Diploma.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Ability to work effectively with student-athletes, staff, and administration.
- Commitment to adhering to NCAA regulations and LIU's mission and values.
- Willingness to work occasional irregular hours and travel, including evenings and weekends.
- Valid US driver’s license.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree.
- Experience working in NCAA Athletics.
- Experience with community engagement and building program visibility.
- Knowledge of NCAA rules and compliance procedures.
- Experience coordinating team travel or athletics operations.
- Familiarity with ARMS/Teamworks.
