About the role

Under general direction from the Head Coach, the Assistant Coach helps develop strategies for developing and maintaining the Track & Field and Cross Country programs. The Assistant Coach is responsible for overseeing specific aspects of the sports program including, but not limited to, skill-work, planning and execution of practice and games, opponent scouts/film breakdown, on-campus and off-campus recruiting, in-season conditioning programs, fundraising events, and various administrative duties which includes team travel.

Responsibilities

  • Develops technical aspects of player coaching.
  • Analyzes performance and instructs participants in program strategies and techniques to prepare them for competition.
  • Observes players while they perform to determine the need for individual or team improvement and participates in student athlete performance.
  • Ensures adherence to all governing rules, university, department, conference, NCAA policies and procedures and NCAA compliance.
  • Represents and promotes professional conduct, university good will and high standards at all events and matches and may assist in coaching at competitive events.
  • Sets up and runs practice and conditioning sessions.
  • Travels to contests by driving University, rental and/or personal vehicle.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with athletic participants, staff, and parents of student athletes.
  • Ability to demonstrate sound judgment and decision-making; be an effective problem solver.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Superior organizational skills required in order to set priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Strong social media and online communication skills to represent the University and athletics department programs.
  • Applied knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat and basic computer skills.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.

Skills

  • Working knowledge of Hudl and Front Rush.
  • Previous experience working or competing at an NCAA Division 3 Track and Field program.

Schedule

Part-time, FixedPercentage of Time: By agreement 50%, 20 Hours per Week
