TPWD - Maintenance Specialist IV (Operations Range
for section headings (e.g. About the role, Responsibilities, Requirements, Qualifications, Skills, Benefits, Pay, Schedule). We should map content to appropriate headings. The posting has sections: TPWD MISSION (maybe About the role?), HIRING CONTACT (maybe not needed?), PHYSICAL WORK ADDRESS (maybe not needed?), GENERAL DESCRIPTION (Responsibilities), MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (Requirements/Qualifications), PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (maybe also Qualifications), KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (Skills), WORKING CONDITIONS (Schedule? plus other conditions). We should not repeat job title. Also we should not include HIRING CONTACT or PHYSICAL WORK ADDRESS as headings unless we map them to something like "About the role"? Probably not needed; they are metadata. We can fold minor metadata into a short
or drop it. The instructions: "do NOT put Job ID / requisition numbers as headings — fold minor metadata into a short
or drop it." So we can drop HIRING CONTACT and PHYSICAL WORK ADDRESS or put them in a short paragraph at top. We need to preserve ALL substantive information; do not invent or summarize away detail. So we need to keep the mission statement, general description, qualifications, etc. We must remove application instructions (PLEASE NOTE etc.) and any boilerplate. Thus final HTML: maybe start with a
containing mission statement? Or we could have
About the role
with mission and general description? But mission is separate. Could haveAbout the role
containing mission statement and general description? However mission is about agency, not role. Might be better to haveAbout the role
with general description. And maybe a separateMission
? Not in allowed headings list but we can use any heading? The instruction says use for section headings (e.g. About the role, Responsibilities, Requirements, Qualifications, Skills, Benefits, Pay, Schedule). It gives examples but not exclusive; we can use other headings? Probably we should stick to those examples. So we need to map content to those headings.
Thus:
- About the role: could include TPWD MISSION and GENERAL DESCRIPTION? Might be okay.
- Responsibilities: maybe we can extract duties from GENERAL DESCRIPTION? But GENERAL DESCRIPTION already describes responsibilities. Could split: About the role (mission) and Responsibilities (duties). However we must not invent headings with filler. If we create Responsibilities, we need content. We can pull duties from GENERAL DESCRIPTION: "Under the direction of the Complex Maintenance Supervisor, this position is responsible for highly complex (senior-level) construction, restoration, and preventative maintenance (cleaning/inspecting) work including the maintenance and repair of equipment, facilities and grounds of the Davis Mountains State Park- Indian Lodge Complex. Performs routine daily maintenance duties and assists in the planning, performing and completion of work projects. Duties include complex and highly skilled repair and maintenance work in plumbing, refrigeration, HVAC and mechanical in a commercial environment, water and septic systems troubleshooting, basic electrical, carpentry and grounds maintenance. Assists in the implementation of the safety program and cyclical and preventative maintenance programs for the park and lodge. Performs administrative duties to include periodic reporting and purchasing responsibilities for the maintenance department. Works under limited supervision, with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Performs additional duties as assigned. Complies with all Agency, Division and Branch rules, regulations and procedures."
That's responsibilities.
- Requirements: could be MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS.
- Qualifications: maybe PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS.
- Skills: KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES.
- Schedule: from WORKING CONDITIONS (the schedule specifics). Also WORKING CONDITIONS includes other conditions (overnight, manual labor, etc.) Might be better to put those under Responsibilities? But they are working conditions. Could create a separate section for Working Conditions but not in allowed headings. Could incorporate into Schedule? Might be okay to have Schedule section with schedule info, and maybe a separate "Working Conditions" not allowed. But we need to preserve all substantive info; we could put the other working condition details under Responsibilities or Skills? Not ideal. Perhaps we can create a section "Schedule" for schedule specifics, and include other working condition details under "Responsibilities" as they are part of job duties? Might be okay.
Alternatively, we could create a section "Requirements" for minimum qualifications, "Qualifications" for preferred, "Skills" for KSAs, "Schedule" for schedule, and maybe "About the role" for mission and general description. The other working condition details (manual labor, lifting, travel, etc.) could be placed under "Responsibilities" as they are part of job expectations. But we already used Responsibilities for duties. Could add a bullet list for working conditions under Responsibilities? Might be okay.
We must not create sections with filler. So we will include:
About the role
TPWD MISSION: To manage and conserve the natural and cultural resources of Texas and to provide hunting, fishing and outdoor recreation opportunities for the use and enjoyment of present and future generations.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Under the direction of the Complex Maintenance Supervisor, this position is responsible for highly complex (senior-level) construction, restoration, and preventative maintenance (cleaning/inspecting) work including the maintenance and repair of equipment, facilities and grounds of the Davis Mountains State Park- Indian Lodge Complex. Performs routine daily maintenance duties and assists in the planning, performing and completion of work projects. Works under limited supervision, with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Performs additional duties as assigned. Complies with all Agency, Division and Branch rules, regulations and procedures.
But that duplicates GENERAL DESCRIPTION content; we already put mission separate. Might be okay. Better: About the role: mission only. Responsibilities: general description. Then Requirements: minimum qualifications. Qualifications: preferred qualifications. Skills: knowledge, skills and abilities. Schedule: schedule info from working conditions. Other working condition details (manual labor, lifting, travel, etc.) could be placed under Responsibilities as additional duties? Might be okay. Let's extract schedule info: "Required to work 40 hours per week, includes flexible schedules with hours other than 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and days off other than Saturdays, Sundays and holidays. Required to have access to a telephone to be contacted to provide coverage of 24-hour operation, if needed. Required to work any shift within a 24-hour period if necessary." Other working conditions: "Required to work at a public park-hotel complex with overnight and day use. Required to perform manual labor including, lifting supplies and materials up to 50 lbs. Required to respond to emergencies and on-call situations. Required to operate a State vehicle. Required to travel 5% with possible overnight stays. Must conform to TPWD dress and grooming standards, work rules and safety procedures. Non-smoking environment in State buildings and vehicles." We could put those under a section "Working Conditions" but not allowed. Could incorporate into Responsibilities as additional expectations. Might be okay. Thus final HTML:About the role
TPWD MISSION: To manage and conserve the natural and cultural resources of Texas and to provide hunting, fishing and outdoor recreation opportunities for the use and enjoyment of present and future generations.
