Position Summary
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Collaborate closely with Quoting Engineers, Manufacturing Engineers, Quality Engineers, and CNC Programmers to ensure planned, efficient, and accurate execution of TPG tasks.
- Execute CNC programming, setup, and operation of metalworking and cutting equipment to produce components according to specifications.
- Support the assembly of prototype products, contributing to testing and ensuring compliance with quality standards.
- Participate in designing and fabricating fixtures for machining, inspection, and assembly processes, actively engaging in problem-solving and optimization efforts.
- Provide valuable input and feedback on initiatives within the TPG, enhancing workflow efficiency and product quality.
- Mount, install, align, and secure tools, attachments, fixtures, and workpieces on machines using precision measuring instruments.
- Review program or blueprints to set machine operations, sequencing, and finished workpiece dimensions.
- Select appropriate tools, machines, and materials for machining work.
- Transfer commands to CNC modules from servers using computer network links.
- Calculate machine speed, feed ratios, and cutting parameters.
- Monitor machine operations and compare readings to specifications to detect and address issues.
- Adjust machine settings, change tools, or control media as needed.
- Support preventative maintenance of CNC equipment.
- Set up future jobs while machines are operating.
- Perform part inspection using precision measuring instruments and optical comparators.
- Communicate with personnel across departments to exchange information and troubleshoot issues.
- Meet established standards for scrap, indirect labor, and production efficiency.
- Properly document all production data in the ERP system and required paperwork.
- Ensure compliance with ISO 13485 and FDA requirements in documentation.
Knowledge, Skills & Competencies
- 3+ years of experience in CNC setup of Milling & Turning equipment.
- Advanced knowledge and understanding of G&M code.
- Knowledge of basic machine programming.
- Advanced programming knowledge desired.
- Ability to read blueprints, with knowledge and understanding of GD&T.
- Proficient in machine shop math.
- Proficient in the use of all machine shop precision measuring equipment including micrometer, caliper, optical comparator and vision machines.
- Knowledge of raw materials, production processes and quality control.
- Ability to maintain a sense of urgency, handle stressful situations, multitask and ability to prioritize work.
- Ability to work autonomously, as well as, in a team environment.
- Ability to communicate and interact effectively, professionally and constructively.
- Knowledge and experience with of other CNC equipment and tooling desired.
- Experience in ISO/FDA environment preferred.
- Ability to be highly accurate with a high attention to detail.
- Ability to troubleshoot and problem solve machining, quality and other issues.
- Ability to read and comprehend work instructions.
