TOWER CONSTRUCTION MANAGER

About the role

Leadership position responsible for overseeing multiple tower construction teams ensuring safety, quality, and timeliness.

Responsibilities

• Manage the crew foreman and field employees; ensure Foremen duties and responsibilities are met.
• Train, mentor, and develop employees.
• Ensure productivity, quality control, labor cost, movement of manpower, procurement of materials, and any other activity impacting project completion.
• Coordinate with project manager on assignment of lead Foreman for each project.
• Monitor Company's assigned projects in the field.
• Monitor and complete daily JHA's.
• Ensure each crew's certifications and project-specific requirements.
• Provide assistance to the project manager in planning the job, ordering materials, and manpower.
• Compile two-week look-ahead schedule and distribute to project manager.
• Submit requests for information to the project manager.
• Inform the project manager of field conditions, document issues, and changes with potential cost impacts.
• Ensure crews complete quality daily reports and log entries.
• Ensure crews have appropriate equipment, materials.
• Coordinate with subcontractors.
• Ensure subcontractors adhere to company policies, guidelines, and culture.
• Review and monitor labor efficiencies, hours, and ratios.
• Take photo documentation of each project site and upload to data center.
• Track and monitor materials costs, storage, consumption, and ordering to prevent issues and minimize costs.
• Ensure compliance with company policies and guidelines.
• Work with the Training and Development team to ensure necessary training and certificates (licenses) are completed.
• Address safety hazards or potential problems with Foremen.
• Conduct morning and afternoon safety huddles and document uploads to data center.
• Monitor and commission on-site equipment.
• Promote a world-class safety culture.
• Maintain ongoing and open communication with Project Managers and customers.
• Maintain thorough knowledge of the systems and equipment being installed.
• Attend meetings with foremen, subcontractors, and others to keep the installation on track and address concerns.
• Interact effectively with clients, contractors, management, and other employees while maintaining a positive customer service environment and work climate.
• Visit job sites to review and inspect installation methods and quality of work performed.
• Meet with foremen, general contractor, and site personnel as needed.
• Create a team environment: a positive, well-organized, proactive force to support profit and growth of the Company.

Qualifications

• High School or GED required.
• Minimum 8-10 years field experience, including at least 5 years as Foreman; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• In-depth understanding of construction operations and processes.
• Proficiency in MS Office.
• Organizational and time-management skills.
• Ability to stand for long periods of time.
• Demonstrated knowledge of test equipment, sweep, PIM & fiber, and certification in each.
• Demonstrated knowledge of standard knots, pass N.A.T.E. Tower Climbers Exam.
• Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
• Valid Drivers License required.
• Must meet BCI MVR criteria with approved driver status.
• Valid DOT Card required.
• (Optional but preferred): NWSA – TTTI, II, or IIIGin Pol Certified, Competent Climber / Rigging, RF Awareness, Fall Protection / Rescue.

Physical Demands

• Standing 90% of the day.
• Ability to hear, understand, and respond appropriately to verbal requests made in person and over the telephone.
• Visual ability correctable to 20/20.
• Ability to operate a commercial motor vehicle.
• Ability to respond verbally in an understandable, professional manner in person and over the telephone.
• Ability to stoop and bend.
• Ability to reach and stretch.
• Ability to lift up to 75 pounds.
• Ability to walk, stand, bend, and climb.
• Ability to work on job site in remote location for extended periods of time.

Work Environment

• Exposure to outdoor weather conditions.
• Risk of electrical shock and radiation.
• Work near mechanical parts.
• May work in high, precarious places.
• Very loud noise levels equivalent to earth-moving equipment and jack hammers.
• Ability to stay on the road up to 100% of the time.
