Total Loss Auto Adjuster
About the role
The Total Loss Auto Adjuster analyzes, evaluates, and settles insurance claims involving automobile material damage losses. Determines value of the physical damage claim and negotiates settlements within prescribed limits of authority, in accordance with established procedures and consistent with legal and contractual obligations. May be assigned duties regarding catastrophe teams for auto losses. Required to evaluate and settle auto total loss claims.
This position is in-office at our Little Rock Regional Office.
Responsibilities
- Analyze, evaluate, and settle automobile material damage insurance claims
- Determine value of physical damage claims and negotiate settlements within authority limits
- Operate within legal and contractual obligations
- Participate in catastrophe teams for auto losses as assigned
Requirements
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and decision-making skills
- Superior negotiation, communication, and customer service skills
- Ability to learn insurance policy coverage analysis, interpretation, and motor vehicle estimating through on-the-job training and claims courses
- Strong technology skills, including keyboarding, word processing software, electronic communications, automobile estimating software, and internet research
- Good basic but advancing knowledge of automobile repair
- Acquire and maintain state licenses as applicable
- Perform essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation
Qualifications
- A minimum of two years general business experience is preferred, particularly in an insurance setting, demonstrating experience in organization, communication, negotiation, and decision-making
Pay
$23.27 - $28.84 / hour
Shelter maintains broad salary ranges for its roles to account for variations in geographic location, education, training, skills, relevant work experience, business needs, and market demands. This range reflects starting base pay only and does not include other components of the total rewards package.
