About the Role

  • Comprehensive Orthopedic Practice: Engage in a full-scope orthopedic surgery practice, with a particular interest in total joint procedures being advantageous.
  • Advanced Surgical Technology: Benefit from access to a new Mako SmartRobotics™ System, supporting robotic-assisted joint replacement procedures and enhancing surgical precision and patient outcomes.
  • Established Referral Network: Leverage a highly established primary care referral network, ensuring a busy practice from the outset.
  • Supportive Environment: Work within a collaborative team that includes Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) for clinic and hospital rounding support.
  • Call Schedule: Participate in a 1:4 call rotation, with infrequent weekend call-ins. Hospitalists handle admissions for orthopedic surgeons.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the medical care of a patient panel by providing or arranging for inpatient hospital care, either through regular hospital rounds or by coordinating with hospitalists or other qualified physicians.
  • Collaborate with patients, families, and care team members to ensure excellent patient care outcomes at designated clinic locations and outreach sites.
  • Perform and document medical histories and physicals in patient records as required by hospital medical staff bylaws.
  • Provide or arrange for call coverage for clinic patients and inpatient call coverage in accordance with BJC policies and medical staff bylaws.
  • Collaborate with and teach advanced practice providers, support staff, and care team members in the management of the patient panel.

BJC has determined this is a safety-sensitive position. The ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner is an essential function of this job.

Requirements

  • Doctorate in Medicine.
  • Board Eligible or Board Certified in Orthopedic Surgery.
  • Licensed Physician.
  • Preferred: 2-5 years of experience.
