About the role
An experienced Journeyman Toolmaker to design, build, repair, and optimize complex tooling, dies, molds, fixtures, and precision components for high-demand manufacturing sectors.
Responsibilities
- Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, CAD models, and specifications to ensure precise tooling manufacture.
- Operate manual and CNC machine tools, EDM equipment, grinders, and lathes for tooling production.
- Assemble, fit, and adjust tooling components to meet tight tolerances.
- Inspect finished tooling with advanced measurement tools to verify quality and accuracy.
- Troubleshoot tooling issues and implement improvements to enhance reliability, productivity, and tool lifespan.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Production, Programming, and Quality teams to support manufacturing goals.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives and mentor junior team members.
- Maintain thorough documentation and support preventive maintenance efforts.
Qualifications
- Minimum five years of experience in tooling, molds, or die manufacturing.
- Strong blueprint reading and machining skills.
- Proficiency with manual and CNC machine operation, and precision measurement.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively, with a keen eye for craftsmanship and detail.
- Preferred: Journeyman Tool & Die Maker certification, technical degree, CAD experience, and EDM machining expertise.
