Tooling Technician

SUMMARY OF ROLE

The Tooling Tech works an 8-hour day shift and is responsible for preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of all injection tooling. This role supports continuous improvement activities through component development and fabrication.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Manage the mold and Hot Runner PM schedule.
• Achieve and track On Time Completion % PM metric.
• Complete Hot Runner training.
• Track and audit spare parts inventory.
• Order spare parts based on immediate needs and inventory needs.
• Execute short- and long-term projects assigned by management.
• Disassemble and reassemble Hot Runner systems.
• Inspect Hot Runner systems for damage and/or malfunction.
• Diagnose heating issues on Hot Runner systems.
• Read and interpret electrical diagrams for Hot Runner systems.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

• 5 to 10+ years’ experience of injection tooling experience required.
• Ability to maintain good, positive, cordial working relationships with all personnel.
• Ability to work with others in a way that elicits their cooperation and support.
• Ability to read and interpret technical documents and information.
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
• Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions.
• Ability to deal with problems involving a few variables in standardized situations.
• Basic computer skills required.
• Knowledge of quality control procedures, good manufacturing practices, and team development.
• Good organizational skills.
• Determination to see problems through to resolution.
• Ability to read and follow tool drawings.
