Responsibilities
- Fabricate, and modify tools, molds, jigs, fixtures, and gauges using technical drawings
- Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on tooling and equipment to reduce production downtime
- Ensure all tools meet quality standards and comply with company safety requirements
- Collaborate with engineers, supervisors, and production teams to resolve tooling issues and improve processes
- Maintain accurate documentation of tool repairs, modifications, and inspections
- Provide guidance and training to employees on proper tool usage and safety procedures
- Inspect, clean, maintain, and repair tooling in accordance with company standards
- Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and basic electrical issues affecting tooling performance
- Set up, prepare, install, and adjust tooling for production operations
- Operate a variety of hand tools and shop equipment (lathes, mills, grinders, drills, welding equipment)
- Follow established safety procedures, including lock-out/tag-out (LOTO) requirements
- Communicate issues, breakdowns, and shift carry-over items during Tier 1 or daily production meetings
Requirements
- A high school diploma or equivalent required; technical degree or certification in a related field preferred
- Minimum of 2 years of industrial maintenance or tooling experience
- Strong mechanical aptitude with knowledge of manufacturing practices and tooling systems
- Experience with hand tools, precision measuring instruments (micrometers, dial indicators), and material handling equipment (forklifts)
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications
- Strong communication skills and ability to work independently with minimal supervision, including flexibility to work overtime as needed
