Tooling Technician

About the role

The Tooling Technician is a mid-level technical position responsible for setting and maintaining machine processes to produce quality blow molded and/or injection molded parts in accordance with product standards.

Responsibilities

• Follow all Amcor safety and environmental policies and procedures
• Monitor quality of product; inspect bottles for defects, inspect boxes for damage, and follow customer pack patterns
• Communicate and cooperate with other employees to achieve department and plant goals
• Adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) guidelines; wear protective clothing, long-sleeved shirt, jeans or slacks, hair net, latex gloves, and practice good hygiene
• Work overtime when needed
• Identify and report violations and unsafe conditions to appropriate personnel
• Effectively respond in an emergency situation such as fire or accident and direct the activities of others
• Follow all Department Procedures and Directives

Qualifications

• High school diploma/GED or three years of experience with production equipment or six months as an Amcor Packer
• Able to multi-task
• Able to pass a background check and drug test
• Able to lift up to 35 pounds
• Able to work in a production environment, recognizing various sounds and alarms
• Able to follow all department procedures and directives
• Able to perform all duties in a safe and effective manner
• Able to communicate effectively

Preferred Qualifications

• Mechanical or manufacturing experience
• Experience with Stretch/Injection Blow Molding Equipment, especially Nissei, Aoki, Sidel and Husky
• Computer skills in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and JDE
• Ability to maintain GMP and SQF compliance requirements
• Ability to identify potential issues with tooling through visual inspection
• Ability to prepare tooling for set up and include necessary components
• Ability to perform mold PMs at scheduled intervals
