About the role
Boeing Defense, Space and Security (BDS) has an exciting opportunity for a Tooling Mechanic to support the Operations Team in Hazelwood, MO. Responsibilities
- Fabricate, maintain, modify, and install various forms of tooling, such as production assembly jigs, engineering test fixtures, and fabrication equipment, in collaboration with engineering design teams, production operations, and production engineering.
- Develop, prepare, and maintain all documentation related to the design, fabrication, and usage of various tooling items and their respective associated calibration equipment.
- Program, set up, and machine parts on 3- and 5-axis mills, lathes, and live tooling lathes.
- Utilize manual equipment to fabricate or modify various tooling components (e.g., Bridgeport mill, manual lathe, surface grinder, drill press).
- Perform equipment maintenance and calibration, blueprint reading, CNC machining, welding, composites modification, tooling inspection, laser tracking, CMM, and portable arm operations.
Requirements
- 1+ years’ experience working in a machining environment.
- 1+ years’ experience as a machine operator with CNC programs.
- Experience using a complete set of toolmaker shop equipment (milling, lathe, precision grinding, polishing, and fitting).
- 1+ years’ experience with 5-axis and 3-axis NC/CNC milling machines.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance (U.S. citizenship required). An interim and/or final U.S. secret clearance post-start is required.
- Must be able to work any shift assigned.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate’s degree, equivalent trade school certificate, and/or equivalent military experience.
- Experience with aerospace manufacturing, fabrication, assembly processes, and technologies.
- Experience in CAD/CAM software (CATIA, Vericut simulation, MasterCAM).
- Experience operating metrology devices such as CMM, Arm, or Laser Tracker using CAD-based metrology software.

Pay
Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
Summary pay range: $30.00/hour – $53.27/hour.
Schedule
- This is an hourly, union-represented position governed by the International Association of Machinist (IAM 837) Collective Bargaining Agreement.
- Must be able to work any shift assigned.
- New hires and employees transferring from non-union positions may be required to attend training upon start and will be on probation for 120 calendar days.
- This position is expected to be 100% onsite at the Hazelwood, MO location.
