Tooling Engineer - Tool Designer

About the role

Alstom is seeking a passionate Tool Designer to drive the creation of innovative tooling solutions that support rail manufacturing excellence. Responsibilities

• Design scalable tooling systems to optimize production efficiency and support growth.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional engineering and manufacturing teams to ensure seamless integration of tools.

Requirements

• Degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in tooling design or a closely related field.
• Prior experience in tooling design is required; the position is not intended for entry‑level candidates.
• Understanding of machining, fabrication, and manufacturing processes.
• Background in machining and fabrication is considered a valuable asset.

Skills

• Mandatory proficiency with CATIA Version 5.
• Strong knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) for mechanical designs.
• Experience designing fixtures, weldments, and tooling solutions.
• Ability to develop tooling used in manufacturing environments and support production activities.

Pay

In accordance with New York State law, the anticipated salary range for this position is $70,000 – $90,000 USD. Compensation will be determined based on experience, education, and qualifications. The range reflects base salary only and does not include bonuses, incentive pay, or other forms of compensation.
