Tooling Engineer I

What You’ll Do

• Aid in part Design for Manufacturing (DFM) analysis, mold filling simulation analysis, and internal tooling design reviews to specify tooling requirements.
• Maintain tool tracking data (APQP) for communication of existing and upcoming new tool builds or tool changes.
• Assist with tool quotes and communicate those to the commodity and program teams.
• Participate in commodity team and program team meetings to communicate tooling updates and ensure timing requirements are met.
• Take initiative to learn from peers, commodity teams, and the supply chain.
• Resolve ongoing production tooling issues at the supply base to prevent production interruptions at Gentex.
• Collaborate with internal teams regarding Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VA/VE) projects that may affect tooling.

What To Bring

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related field.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

What Will Help

• 1-3 years of professional experience related to the tool design, development, and launch of injection mold tools, die cast tools, or stamping tools.
• Knowledge of 3D computer aided design (CAD) software.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and provide problem-solving solutions in the assigned area.

Qualifications

Schedule

The position requires on-site work at Gentex facilities. This role is not eligible for remote work.
