About the Role
Tooling All Die Coordinators are responsible for inspecting and recognizing tooling that needs repair, replacement, or revision. This role involves managing tooling inventory, ensuring all scheduled items are at machines, and handling tooling documentation and logistics.
Responsibilities
- Conduct machine-scheduled walkthroughs to verify all planned items are at machines; pull, inspect, and return other tooling to proper locations.
- Pull and inspect a printing plate backlog once per shift; stage items that meet requirements.
- Perform pre- and post-inspection of cutting dies once per shift; tag and handle cutting dies as returned from machines. Seek assistance for large or heavy dies.
- Notify Tooling Coordinator, Superintendent, and Supervisors of tooling status (e.g., "In-House Repair" or "Outside Repair").
- Manage all tooling purchase orders (POs) and maintain monthly tooling spreadsheets.
- Check in incoming print plates; assign print plate and cutting die numbers from the Print or Cutting Die Log Book.
- Maintain die spreadsheets and assign locations to print plates in HRMS; attach and deliver supporting documentation to the die room.
- Handle all outgoing tooling, order supplies, and obtain quotes for tooling as needed.
- Scan print cards and CADs into the system, if applicable.
- Manage tooling bill of ladings for outgoing shipments.
- Fill in on machine centers during vacations or as needed.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Preferred: Prior work experience in the corrugated industry or 6 months of experience in the Press or Finishing Department.
- Able to read and follow instructions on factory masters.
- Proficient in reading a tape measure with speed and accuracy; able to calculate percentages, measurements, volume, and rates.
- Ability to apply common sense to carry out written, oral, or graphic instructions and solve problems involving concrete variables.
Skills
- Working knowledge of equipment design, product layouts, production specifications, and quality standards.
- Technical understanding of product quality specifications and operational efficiency.
- May require a current Lift Truck Operator License.
Physical Demands
- Regularly required to stand, walk, talk, or hear; frequently use hands to handle or feel objects, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Occasionally required to sit.
- Must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally up to 100 pounds.
- Requires close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception, as well as the ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment
- Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and wet/humid conditions.
- Occasionally exposed to high places, fumes, airborne particles, and vibration.
- Noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
Pay
Starting pay is $18.98 per hour plus shift differential. Eligible for pay increases at 90 days and 6 months (based on attendance and performance), increasing pay to over $20 per hour. Additional earning potential and career growth opportunities available through internal promotions.
