About the role
The Tool Technician I role supports the maintenance and support of injection molds, requiring mechanical aptitude, familiarity with machining tools, and a commitment to accuracy, safety, and continuous skill development.
Responsibilities
- Assist with the disassembly, cleaning, and basic troubleshooting of injection molds using proper methods
- Perform in-press cleaning and lubrication of molds as needed
- Use basic hand tools and demonstrate mechanical aptitude in daily maintenance tasks
- Operate or assist with tool room equipment, including lathes, mills, grinders, and EDMs
- Use precision measuring tools (e.g., calipers, micrometers) to verify part dimensions
- Follow established procedures and documentation standards during maintenance activities
- Accurately log preventative maintenance tasks and maintain tool binder records
- Collaborate with team members to understand mold function and improve maintenance practices
- Maintain high attention to detail and accuracy while working under pressure and tight deadlines
- Show a strong interest in developing technical knowledge related to mold maintenance and plastics processing
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- 1–3 years of experience in a mechanical, manufacturing, or tool room environment preferred
- Basic knowledge of hand tools, mechanical systems, and shop safety practices
- Exposure to machining or mold maintenance is a plus
- Ability to follow instructions, document work accurately, and work both independently and as part of a team

Pay
The starting pay rate for this role is $28.90 per hour.
