Tool Room Machinist
About the role
Kurt Machining is seeking an experienced Tool Room Machinist to join our team. This position is responsible for the construction, repair, maintenance, and calibration of machine shop tools, jibs, fixtures, instruments, and metal-forming dies.
Responsibilities
- Analyzes specifications, lays out metal stock, sets up and operates machine tools, fits and assembles parts to fabricate and repair metalworking dies, cutting tools, jigs and fixtures, gauges and machinists' hand tools.
- Studies specifications, such as blueprints, sketches, models, or descriptions, and visualizes product to determine materials required and machines to be used to fabricate parts.
- Computes dimensions, plans layout, and determines assembly method and sequence of operations.
- Sets up, programs, and operates CNC and manual machine tools, such as lathes, mills, shapers, and grinders to machine parts and verifies conformance of machined parts to specifications.
Requirements
This position requires 2 years of related experience and a high school diploma or equivalent. An associate's degree is preferred.
Qualifications
Knowledge of tool and die design and construction, shop mathematics, metal properties, and layout, machining, and assembly procedures.
Skills
Must have strong mechanical aptitude and be able to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.

The anticipated hourly starting pay range for this position is $30.00 to $40.00. The exact rate may be based on a combination of factors including knowledge, experience, skills, abilities, and education.
Schedule
1st Shift: 6:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. Monday - Thursday.

The worker will occasionally (up to 1/3 of the time): Stoop by bending body downward and forward requiring full use of the lower extremities and back muscles, Kneel by bending legs at knees to come to rest on knee(s), Crouch by bending body downward and forward by bending legs and spine.
