Tool Room Attendant

About the Role

The Tool Room Attendant is responsible for maintaining the equipment and tooling located in Central Tooling and in the Tool Rooms. Major responsibilities include the disassembly, cleaning, repair, assembly, inspection, calibration, and testing of aircraft tooling to help assure safe, on-time departures of Delta’s aircraft. This position requires thorough work and a commitment to the highest level of quality, as well as outside work. The Tool Room Attendant is also responsible for maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work environment.

Responsibilities

• Handles tool servicing, cutting, repairs, shipping tools, and periodically checking, replacing, or repairing various items.
• Manages tool inventory and interacts with Aircraft Maintenance Technicians (AMTs) to assist in tooling needs, matching tooling requirements with maintenance performed on aircraft.
• Responsible for the movement and support of tooling to assist both Delta’s operational and MRO (Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul) needs.
• Practices safety-conscious behaviors in all operational processes and procedures.

Requirements

• Must be able to read, write, and comprehend English, and apply information from technical manuals.
• Must possess a basic understanding of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic disciplines as they apply to aircraft systems.
• Must achieve a satisfactory score on the mechanical aptitude test, structured to determine the ability to perform essential job functions.
• Must meet physical requirements, including the ability to lift at least 70 pounds.
• Must have a valid driver’s license.
• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required.
• Must be at least 18 years of age with authorization to work in the United States.
• Must consistently prioritize safety and security of self, others, and personal data.
• Must embrace diverse people, thinking, and styles.
• Must be willing to work rotating or fixed shifts, including weekends and holidays.
• (If transferring internally) Must be performing satisfactorily in present position.

Preferred Qualifications

• At least six months of mechanical experience or technical training/schooling; preferred areas include automotive, sheet metal, and electrical/electronics.
• Experience reading and interpreting technical documents such as AAs, SBs, AMMs, CMs, EMs, and wiring diagrams.
