About the role

We are seeking a Tool and Die Shop to join our AMF South site location. This position involves fabricating, building, handling, repairing, and integrating complex parts, assemblies, and machines used in engineering prototypes, one-of-a-kind products, or low-volume manufacturing. The role requires highly skilled labor for extremely tight or critical tolerances, interfacing with engineers in prototyping and optimizing assembly processes, and monitoring and verifying quality according to statistical process or other control procedures.

Responsibilities

• Set up, manage, and maintain a prototype/tooling machine shop with manual lathes, mills, and inspection equipment.
• Keep the shop clean, organized, and process work orders per schedule or Engineering direction.
• Order cutters, consumables, and inspection tools to ensure full shop capability within budget.
• Read and interpret drawings, blueprints, tool orders, and engineering documents to plan fabrication steps.
• Lay out part dimensions and tooling points using shop math, geometry, and trigonometry.
• Set up and operate hand tools, manual machines, and NC mills and lathes.
• Fabricate, assemble, and proof molds, jigs, fixtures, dies, and inspection tools using various metals and plastics.
• Inspect in-process and finished parts using precision measurement tools and record data in the ERP system.

Qualifications

• A High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 6 years of prior relevant tool maker experience, or
• A 2-year post-secondary/Associate’s Degree with a minimum of 2 years of prior related tool maker experience.
